Health Benefits

(Jasminum grandiflorum, Jasminum ) highly esteemed in Asia, the Middle East and India, the name Jasmine originates from the Persian term Yasmin meaning fragrant flower. This queen of flowers has long been used in aromatherapy to help relax the nervous system and treat depression. Jasmine oil also is known to help remedy muscle pain, coughs and assist with healing scars.

All tea originates from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis. However, the final product differs in appearance, taste and caffeine content due to differences in processing, in particular fermentation. Green teas are not fermented or oxidized like oolong and black teas, but are steamed or pan fired immediately after plucking. Because green tea is the least processed of all teas the concentrations of minerals and the all important antioxidants are higher. Recent mediacl studies have shown that green tea has positive benefits in fighting Heart Disease and viruses, slowing aging, and potentially helping combatting the free radicals that cause some cancers. The secret to a really good cup of tea, apart from quality leaves, lies in the quality of the water. Wherever possible use filtered or bottled water and never over boil water as this results in flat tasting tea. Take one teaspoon of Jasmine tea per cup and pour over water that has boiled and cooled to 80 degrees C. The best way to gauge this is to allow a boiled kettle to sit for 2-3 minutes. Let your leaves to infuse the water for between 3 and 5 minutes depending on your desired strength.
