Description

This exquisite tea is a carefully crafted blend of premium Ceylon black teas which has been delicately scented with pure bergamot oil to create a wonderfully smooth and aromatic Earl Grey with a refined citrus flavour. We have also added striking blue mallow flowers which not only enhances the tea’s visual appeal but also adds a subtle floral note that complements the bright citrus tones beautifully.

The key ingredient, bergamot oil, is derived from the Citrus Bergamia fruit. It's a small, round citrus native to the Calabrian region of southern Italy, particularly the town of Bergamo, from which it takes its name. This unique fruit is believed to be a hybrid between bitter orange and lemon, and its oil is cold-pressed from the peel to preserve its delicate composition. Bergamot oil is known for its fresh, lively aroma with spicy citrus notes and is known for its uplifting and calming properties. In tea, it adds a signature brightness that has made Earl Grey one of the most loved flavoured teas in the world.

Health Benefits

All tea originates from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, but the final product varies in style, taste, and caffeine content depending on how it is processed.

Black tea, which undergoes full oxidation, has a lower concentration of polyphenols compared to green tea, but it has a higher caffeine and tannin content. Despite concerns about tannins, research shows that the levels present in tea do not appear to have any harmful effects on the body. In fact, black tea offers several health benefits, including:

  • Improved heart health
  • Better gut health
  • Enhanced focus

It also contains antioxidants such as theaflavins and thearubigins, which help combat oxidative stress. Also, tea is rich in the amino acid L-theanine, which is known for promoting relaxation and reducing stress and anxiety without causing drowsiness.
