Description

This high-quality Assam tea is sourced from the Brahmaputra Valley in northern India, a region known for its rich, loamy soils and humid climate. These are the ideal conditions for producing strong, malty teas. The leaf is decaffeinated using the carbon dioxide (CO₂) method, a natural and non-chemical process that uses pressurised CO₂ to selectively remove caffeine molecules while leaving the flavour compounds largely intact.

The result is a decaffeinated tea that retains the bold, malty character typical of Assam, with a smooth feel and subtle notes of honey and spice. It brews to a deep amber-red liquor with a full-bodied profile and a clean finish.

Ideal for those sensitive to caffeine, this tea can be enjoyed at any time of day, especially in the evening, without compromising on taste or sleep quality.

Health Benefits

All tea originates from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis, but the final product varies in style, taste, and caffeine content depending on how it is processed.

Black tea, which undergoes full oxidation, has a lower concentration of polyphenols compared to green tea, but it has a higher caffeine and tannin content. Despite concerns about tannins, research shows that the levels present in tea do not appear to have any harmful effects on the body. In fact, black tea offers several health benefits, including:

  • Improved heart health
  • Better gut health
  • Enhanced focus

It also contains antioxidants such as theaflavins and thearubigins, which help combat oxidative stress. Also, tea is rich in the amino acid L-theanine, which is known for promoting relaxation and reducing stress and anxiety without causing drowsiness.
