Description

Grown in the fertile Brahmaputra Valley of northern India, Assam Harmutty STGFOP1 hails from one of the region’s oldest and most esteemed tea estates. This high-grade tea features long, wiry leaves with a generous amount of golden tips, a sign of exceptional craftsmanship and quality.

When brewed, it yields a deep amber-red liquor with a rich, full-bodied taste. Expect classic Assam maltiness complemented by notes of dark honey, warm spice, and subtle dried fruit. Smooth and robust, it’s perfect for a strong morning cup and holds up well to the addition of milk, though it’s equally enjoyable on its own.

This tea pairs beautifully with hearty breakfast foods such as buttered toast, eggs, and pastries. Its bold flavour also complements sharp cheeses, spiced biscuits, or a slice of fruitcake, making it a versatile companion throughout the day.

Health Benefits

All tea originates from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis, but the final product varies in style, taste, and caffeine content depending on how it is processed.

Black tea, which undergoes full oxidation, has a lower concentration of polyphenols compared to green tea, but it has a higher caffeine and tannin content. Despite concerns about tannins, research shows that the levels present in tea do not appear to have any harmful effects on the body. In fact, black tea offers several health benefits, including:

  • Improved heart health
  • Better gut health
  • Enhanced focus

It also contains antioxidants such as theaflavins and thearubigins, which help combat oxidative stress. Also, tea is rich in the amino acid L-theanine, which is known for promoting relaxation and reducing stress and anxiety without causing drowsiness.
