This Matcha, a vibrant green tea powder is made from the Tencha leaf. Traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies Matcha tea is packed full of antioxidants and has a wonderful clean taste.

Our Matcha is hand picked and Organic is a top quality beginners grade. It is sourced from Japans southern most islands where it is produced using elaborate techniques handed down from generations of farmers.
Matcha grows best in shade, and one month before harvest the fields are covered to ensure a 90% reduction in sunlight. This encourages the plants to produce Chlorophyll, meaning the leaves are rich in Amino Acids.
It is these amino acids that make Matcha a truly unique ingredient, naturally higher in Antioxidants than any other naturally grown plant.
Tests using ORAC - Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity - showed Matcha is 1573 units per gram compared to 93 units per g in blueberries.
Antioxidants are the bodies natural defence mechanism, they prevent aging and disease and infection caused by damage to cells.
Matcha contains Catechins, in particular a class of Catechin called Epigallocatechin gallate EGCG known to fight cancer cells
In addition Catechins fight free radicals (an atom or group of atoms that react with cells and cause damage) associated with UV rays and Pollution
Here are a few ideas for other ways to enjoy this Organic Matcha.
Matcha Latte
1g (approx 1/2 teaspoon) Organic Matcha
200ml milk
honey or sugar to taste
In a cup or mug use 60ml warmed milk to whisk the Organic Matcha into a paste
Add sweetener if required and the rest of the warmed mik and whisk well.
Iced Matcha
1. Heat water to 85°C /185°F
2. Add 1/2 teaspoon (1g) of Organic Matcha into your cup
3. Add the water, leaving plenty of room to whisk the Organic Matcha into the water.
4. Whisk until frothy
5. Take a large glass and half fill with ice
6. Pour the Organic Matcha over ice, allow to sit for 2min
Matcha Smoothie
1. 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of Organic Matcha
2. 1 banana
3. 30g Soft fruit
4. 1 tablespoon of honey
5. 250ml milk
6. 8 ice cubes
...and here's how to make it
1. Add the Organic Matcha to a cup
2. Add warm water to the Organic Matcha and whisk until frothy
3. Add the Organic Matcha to the blender and add all but the ice cubes
4. Blend together for 30 seconds
5. Add the ice
6. Blend again for 30 seconds

Brewing
Take one level teaspoon of Matcha and add to a bowl. Add water that has boiled and cooled to around 80 -85 degrees C. Whisk the tea into a smooth frothy delicious cup!
